Prayer: Grand Weaver

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written every one of them, the days that were formed for me, as yet when there was none of them.—Psalm 139:13-16

All Praise and Glory to You, Grand Weaver!

Somehow you are able to take these broken lives and make something good of them! Somehow, you are able to take our pain and sorrows and deficiencies and make the most beautiful works of art! You take our empty canvases and create a masterpiece for the eye to behold!

We collapse under the weight of this world, we shrivel under the dry winds and unbearable heat, we become exhausted under perpetual toil and trials, we are wrung out by torrential rains and guarded living but You are not put off by our weariness, You tuck us in Your hand and start the work of restoring, re-weaving and reshaping. You breathe life back into our lifeless bodies and  souls…A bruised reed you do not break; a smoldering wick you do not put out!

Take the broken places of my Life, Grand Weaver and bless me! Use the pain I have experienced and bless me! Make the past, no matter shameful and scarred, a blessing to me and others!

  • Today I pray for those who are bent over, depleted from life’s trials…
  • I pray for those who are near to giving up; discouraged and disheartened…
  • I pray for those who have been rejected so many times they have lost count and lost all hope…
  • I pray for those who are battered in more ways than one…
  • I pray for the emotionally scarred and soul damaged…
  • I pray for those so wearied by their life’s journey they have no life or laughter left in them…
  • I pray for those who are                                  …

There is nothing I can do for them! Anything I or another would do, would only be a band-aid; a pitiful offering next to their need. I pray, give them help against the enemy because the help of mere humans is (truly) useless!

Come into these lives Grand Weaver and make beautiful endings! Use the unsightly scars, the unmentionable wounds, the painful memories, and create a work so grand no human can take credit!

Today I am reminded of the song;

Something beautiful, something good

So much confusion. He understood

All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife

But he made something beautiful of my life!

Thank you for taking our disasters and failures and shortcomings and making something beautiful and good out of them! Thank you for looking beyond our faults and seeing our (true) need!  Thank you for not letting humanity have the last say about us or our outcomes! Thank you that the judgments and curses of mankind do not stick and do not determine how You will work in and with us!

We are blessed by You and blessed to have You, Grand Weaver, reworking and reshaping us from life’s grand beginning to its graciously grand end! Amen

May this reminder stay with us each day! Thank you for that reminder of “Something Beautiful, Something Good” how I am taken back now to worship services of the past, but also to Genesis 1.
