God Sheds Light on my Darkness

A Verse to Think about Today…

For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.—Psalm 18:28-30

A Promise that will Sustain You…..

For the despairing or anxious mind, Psalm 18 is an excellent psalm to spend some time in. King David wrote this and nobody better than he to address the fierceness of enemies, but also the power of God to rescue us from our [many] enemies: both within and without! David makes it clear our God is also our rescuer—our faithful deliverer. He is a Mighty Warrior in battle. If you are troubled by [any] enemy, you might read this psalm often, meditate on it—you will be strengthened no matter what kind of trial or trouble you are facing: no matter what kind of enemy is bantering against your peace. It is an excellent psalm to read and explain to the children or youth who are troubled with anxiety. Children are often plagued with [secret] anxieties and worries that trouble day and night. We are never too young to learn of God’s goodness and power!

A Prayer to Pray…

For it is you O God who light my lamp; my Lord and my God lightens my darkness.

Depression is lifted

Sorrow ceases

Confusion evaporates

Despair dissipates…

And I am filled with brightness. Suddenly I can see and hear your voice more clearly. Suddenly I have peace of mind—I am free from the deadly chains of sorrow and despair—my feet are lifted out of the quicksand of depression and hopelessness. By you, O God I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall…You seal me in the days of darkness and I am not defeated. Amen

If we were under threat of losing our lives, most people would fight back, but when we are in darkness, it is easier to sink further in, instead of fighting toward the light. Prayer is the link to pull us closer to the light(The King). Anyone under attack wether it’s physical or spiritual. Pray this prayer, God is listening and waiting to shine His light on us.
